so hang me up to dry

there is a question that has been weighing heavily on my mind as of late...

who invented the "boo?"

i mean really, did someone just say one day, "hey, when something or someone displeases us, let's say 'boo.' that ought to get the point across."

thoughts?

i'm pretty sure captain hook invented "boo". as in "the boo box". end of story.

PS when i was in 6th grade. my mom informed me that i was super messy and told me to come up with a solution. i suggested a family "boo box". things that were not put away were placed in the boo box and could only be reclaimed after I did a chore. it was almost fun leaving things out just to hear my mom say "it's in the boo box."

"Boo" comes from a line judge of Super Bowl 5, Edward Boo. After a critical penalty called by Boo the fans roared outing "Booing" his bad call. From then on "Booing" has continued throughout the years.

I believe the ancient Greeks were playing a primitive form of "Hey Cow!", and mistook the moo for boo. They found this to be delightful and incorporated the sound into other events. Foolish ancient Greeks.
